A golfer's guide to Las Vegas

As the days go by and we continue to get closer to normal, there’s one destination that seems to be the epitome of “revenge travel,” with golfers from all corners of the U.S. (and the world) ready to hit the road and enjoy their time on the course and all of the trappings of an epic destination — Las Vegas!

Las Vegas is obviously known for its world-class casinos, opulent accommodations, raging pool parties and nightclubs, and exquisite restaurants. But it’s also the perfect hub for a great golf trip that can cater to all budgets including some high-roller options that ooze with luxury.

There’s a lot of options when it comes to golf in Las Vegas, but here’s a look into our favorites for a getaway to Sin City:

Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort

With three Pete Dye designs that feature mountainous and desert backdrops for golfers to enjoy, Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort is a Las Vegas area favorite that features the Snow Mountain course, Sun Mountain, and The Wolf. You’ll want to play all three here as each course has a unique and intriguing design. The Wolf is known to be the most difficult of the trio, so bring your “A game” to tackle this desert beast.

Bali Hai Golf Club

Bali Hai Golf Club is everything that is right about golf in Las Vegas. This property embraces the concept of fun for golfers, and that includes everything from Jello shots on the first tee, music blasting, ParMates available to be your forecaddie, and so much more. Located right next to the Las Vegas Strip, this course is easily accessible for any Vegas vacation. Don’t let the fun vibe fool you, as the team here takes creating the perfect golf experience for their guests very seriously, and this lush green golf experience is an enjoyable and challenging design that you’re sure to love.

TPC Las Vegas

The name TPC is synonymous with creating great experiences for golfers, this Bobby Weed and Raymond Floyd design will give you the desert setting you’ve been looking for during your Las Vegas getaway. TPC Las Vegas, with arroyos and mountain backdrops everywhere you look, is a challenging, but fair, course that puts a premium on shot-making.

Cascata

If you’re looking for a higher-end golf experience in the desert, Cascata has you covered as this spectacular Rees Jones design plays up into and around the surrounding mountainous terrain creating a legendary experience for all golfers. The conditions are always impeccable here, and once you make your way through the unassuming front gate here prepare yourself for a day of golf that you won’t soon forget.

Shadow Creek Golf Course

Owned by MGM Resorts, Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas is the definition of living the high-roller life in Las Vegas. This stunning Tom Fazio-design was designed in the middle of the desert and once you make your way inside the very modest gates out front, your entire experience changes as Fazio and his team created a design that is as peaceful as it is challenging. This course is often visited by celebrities and sports stars during their golf getaways to Vegas, and if you have the opportunity to play it you definitely should.

Rio Secco Golf Club

A Rees Jones-designed desert classic, Rio Secco Golf Club is owned by the same group that owns Cascata and creates a great 1-2 combination for golfers looking for a packaged golf buy. The course runs through a “Dry River” as its name denotes in Portuguese, and that allows for a unique routing that is surrounded by steep canyon walls. In addition to great golf, this property is home to the Butch Harmon School of Golf so if you’re looking to tune up your game, this is the place to go.

Wynn Golf Club

The legendary Tom Fazio and his son Logan knocked it out of the park with this inspired design that is located smack dab in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip. This exclusive golf experience can be enjoyed by resort guests and outside golfers alike, but just prepare as you’re going to pay a premium for a one-of-a-kind experience. In standard Fazio fashion, Wynn Golf Club is visually stunning, and golfers will enjoy their round from start to finish that is capped off by a stunning rock wall and waterfall as your backdrop on the 18th green.
