SentryWorld: A blooming Wisconsin gem in every way

Wisconsin has become one of the best states in the country when it comes to top-quality golf. The area has turned into a breeding ground for exceptional courses, and during a recent visit to the state, we found ourselves lucky enough to finally make it to SentryWorld.

To say that we were blown away is an understatement.

SentryWorld is owned by Sentry Insurance, who’s corporate office is a stone’s throw away from the facility, and the company has fully embraced the world of golf, highlighted by the sponsorship of the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii as one of many investments in the game.

That kind of commitment from a company that has the capital to invest in a top-quality product comes out in every way when you visit SentryWorld.

First, no detail is left to chance with your experience here. Not one. And while this course has been known on a local and regional level for quite some time, it has started to take a presence on the national stage in recent years as they hosted the 2019 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship and will be hosting the men’s 2023 U.S. Senior Open Championship June 29 through July 2, 2023.

Now that the governing bodies are taking notice of the pedigree of this golf course, the resort has kicked things up a notch in 2022 with the opening of The Inn at SentryWorld.  This last missing piece has created a stay-and-play experience that you need to get on your group’s golf travel radar.

SentryWorld’s championship golf

As much as we love the new Inn at SentryWorld, let’s get to why you are really going to visit here: the golf.

This golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and while other resorts in the state can be known for having exceptional links-style golf designs, SentryWorld is as pure as it gets when it comes to a parkland layout.  The team here has continued to invest in the betterment of the golf product, including a major 2021 renovation that included such features as adding in a sub-air system to keep the course looking perfect all season long.

Like most golfers, we came to the course greatly anticipating our arrival to the par-3 16th hole that is affectionately known as the Flower Hole. What quickly became evident to us was that this course is so much more than one exceptional par-3. To showcase this for you, we’ve taken the honor of droning the entire golf course for you so you can see exactly what we mean.

The SentryWorld experience

While the golf is simply incredible, one of our favorite parts of your round at SentryWorld: the all-inclusive experience. This may sound like a foreign concept to many, but if you’ve ever had the pleasure of playing at one of Discovery Land’s high-end exclusive private clubs before (such as The Madison Club, Gozzer Ranch, and Troubadour just to name a few) then you are familiar with this unique concept where your round of golf is all-inclusive.

What that means is that throughout your round you will pass two different refreshment stations that you see four times throughout your round at the 1st, 3rd, 10th and 13th holes. These refreshment stations are fully stocked with all kinds of goodies including a myriad of snacks, brats, beers, cocktails, sodas, chips, candy, local cuisine, and so much more.

The best part? It’s all free! It’s included as part of your green fees, and you won’t have to pull out your wallet one time during your round. Given that the rate to play here in 2023 will be $300 for the daily guest rate, with stay-and-play rates starting at $415 per person on double occupancy stays, we can confidently say that you’d be getting your money’s worth and then some at those rates even without this all-inclusive experience.

The value provided here for a high-end experience on a perfectly manicured golf course is exceptional, and it is a testament to how Sentry as an organization has invested their time and resources to create an incredible day for golfers at SentryWorld.

The Inn at SentryWorld

Comfortable opulence are the two words that first come to mind when you consider the accommodations here. The team did an exceptional job of embracing the look and feel of the Wisconsin vibe, all while immersing you in an environment where you can tell that no expense was spared in creating a grand experience.

The lodging features beds that you can comfortably sink into, local cocktail creations are readily available in your room, and the bathroom, while understated, uses all top-notch fixtures and utilizes Molton Brown branded products to add that last touch of class to your stay.

The resort offers so much to do, including dining options at PJ’s for a more casual vibe or Muse for a high-end experience; rentable bikes to cruise along the 27-mile long bike path that runs through the local forest all the way to the downtown of Stevens Point; fire pits to recap your round at; a fully stocked fitness center; and so much more.

SentryWorld is one of those special resorts that once you visit you won’t soon forget. If you’re interested in a vacation here, we suggest you act fast as soon as the golf masses get a chance to view it on television during the 2023 U.S. Senior Open. We expect demand to go through the roof – so start your inquiry today in order to ensure you don’t miss out.
