Coeur d’Alene
An island green…that floats…and moves?! If that’s all you knew about The Coeur d’Alene Golf Course, then one picture of this iconic hole should be enough to get you to consider bringing your group’s next golf getaway to this Idaho beauty. But as our team found when we had the chance to visit this facility recently, this golf course is far more than just one great hole.
Upon your arrival to the course, the “star of the show” is immediately revealed to you as the iconic 14th hole is one of the first things you will see as you make your way from the parking lot to the pro shop. As you’ll see in this exclusive drone footage of the golf course that we have provided for you here, the course features a wonderful variety of amazing holes that are meticulously manicured for your enjoyment. You’ll also find that the routing brings you back in and away from Lake Coeur d’Alene and the tree-covered mountains provide great reveals of the surrounding landscape throughout your round.
Hopefully this video shows you the same thing that our visit here disclosed to us which is that The Coeur d’Alene Golf Course is so much more than just one epic golf hole. In fact, many golfers would even argue that the par-3 5th hole may be the best hole on the golf course. A slightly downhill shot to a unique green with a 3-legged formation places a premium on accuracy here, and the beautiful rock formations alongside the tall pines with the lake in the background creates a beautiful backdrop for one of the toughest approach shots you’ll ever have into a short par-3.
Each group booked here includes a forecaddie which is a nice touch for traveling golfers who are most likely seeing the golf course for the first time. As your round comes to an end, the team here will provide you with a personalized bag tag to cap off an exceptional day on the course.
This golf course was one of our favorites that we had the chance to visit in 2023, and we suggest playing it at least twice during your visit if your schedule permits.
The Resort
The Coeur d’Alene Golf & Spa Resort is only a short drive or a complimentary short water taxi away from the golf course. One of the first things you’ll notice here is that the entire experience at the resort is focused on connecting you with the amazing backdrop of Lake Coeur d’Alene. The resort provides a myriad of lodging options available that give you incredible vistas of the lake and the surrounding mountains, and the well-appointed rooms embrace these views and create an incredible sense of place during your visit.
Many golfers enjoy taking advantage of all the off-course activities during your stay here as well — including complimentary bike rentals to explore, cycling including mountain biking, zip lining, water cruises, boat rentals, paddleboard tours, fishing, and so much more.
The resort offers a variety of dining experiences for you to enjoy from sit down to casual options, but we recommend you make at least one of your evenings featured around a meal at Beverly’s which is located on the 7th floor of the resort and provides you with an amazing setting for a world-class meal at one of the nation’s top restaurants with the largest wine cellar in the Pacific Northwest.
For those looking for a little bit of pampering during your stay, the spa at the resort has been ranked as one of the top resort spas in American by Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List and will be sure to indulge all your senses.
Recommendation
We had high expectations for this resort when we visited here, and we were pleasantly surprised by how far the team at The Coeur d’Alene Golf & Spa Resort exceeded those expectations. The one thing we would suggest you do is to be sure to schedule enough time for your trip to enjoy the off-course activities more as that was one mistake we will definitely remedy during our next visit to Coeur d’Alene.
Another idea we’d suggest considering when booking a trip here is seeing if the Jaeger Suite or the Hagadorne Suite is available if you are coming with a large group of buddies. These two larger rooms provide a great “hang” area for your crew, but availability is limited so be sure to book these ways in advance if you can.
Overall, this property definitely gets our seal of approval and if you’re looking for great golf in the Pacific Northwest, then this has to be on your radar.
