Streamsong Resort announces fourth golf course

Streamsong Resort

The world of golf in Central Florida was forever changed 10 years ago when Streamsong Resort opened.

This incredible resort brought a unique look and feel to Florida golf that the golf world had never seen before as the design teams incorporated the natural dunes that were created by mining the landscape for minerals to create a visually appealing and diverse landscape in an area that is often known for flatter landscapes.

Streamsong first opened with the Red and Blue courses which were designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw (Red) and Tom Doak (Blue).  Years later, the team tapped Gil Hanse to create the Black Course, a massive layout that brought a new and distinct look to the property.

Picking your favorite at Streamsong

One of the signs of a great golf resort is when a group finishes their trip, and everybody has a different favorite course.  You can hear that conversation over and over again in the resort lobby at Streamsong.

Well, good news golfers, as there will now be a fourth course to throw into that fray.  Streamsong Resort announced that the dynamic duo of Coore and Crenshaw will be back once again to create a new fourth course.  This new layout has not been named as of yet, and it is said that it will be shorter than the existing three layouts with early routings that incorporate a six-hole and 12-hole loop as well as a large putting course.

“On Streamsong’s Tenth Anniversary, Ben Crenshaw and I are pleased to announce that we will again be working with our friends at the resort, this time to create a short course within walking distance of the Lodge,” said Bill Coore of Coore & Crenshaw Design.

The first tees for the fourth course are a short walk from the Lodge at Streamsong. The course winds through the centuries old native oaks, mine cuts and along the banks of Little Payne Creek. Dramatic elevation changes exist on the land bringing drama, strategy and fun into play throughout.

“Comprised of moss draped oaks, lakes and sand-based landforms, the site for the short course is dramatically gifted for golf; and although smaller in scale and different in character from the Blue, Black and Red courses, we believe the site has the potential to complement the amazing golf experiences that have made Streamsong one of our nation’s most highly acclaimed golf destinations,” said Coore.

The layout will be designed as a walking course where a full set of clubs will not be required. This new concept will allow guests to play more quickly than a larger or longer 18-hole course and without specified tee markers or a score relative to par. Early routings on the roughly 100-acre site include holes ranging from 70 to nearly 300 yards.

Recommendation

Streamsong Resort is a destination we get asked about often, and we’ve never had anybody that we’ve ever sent there go home disappointed. The property has continued to evolve and get better, and one recent enhancement was the property coming under the full watchful eye of KemperSports. Kemper had previously been managing the golf operations, but now the entire resort is under their keen eye. Trust us, this is a good thing for you.

The peak time to enjoy Streamsong is between October and April, but there are some incredible deals available here in the summer if you don’t mind a bit of heat and are looking for a significant price break.

No matter when you go, you’re in store for a memorable trip.
