SentryWorld is finally getting its due in the world of golf.
The course first opened in 1982 to a ton of fanfare, and over the subsequent years the great state of Wisconsin saw a lot of other amazing properties enter the golf landscape here including the likes of Kohler, Erin Hills, and Sand Valley.
The team at SentryWorld decided it was time to put a renewed focus back into the golf experience to elevate the brand to higher levels. The renovation of the golf course was completed in 2014, and the property started to gain prominent recognition once again.
In 2022, the addition of The Inn at SentryWorld, it was completed and the resort experience was fulfilled. Now, guests who visit SentryWorld can enjoy one of the best golf resort experiences in the Midwest, and that’s saying a lot given the level of competition in this region.
The golf course is, in a word, special.
First, no detail is left to chance with your experience here. And while this course has been known on a local and regional level for quite some time, it has started to take a presence on the national stage in recent years as they hosted the 2019 U.S. Girls’ Junior as well as the Men’s 2023 U.S. Senior Open Championship.
Let’s take a deeper dive into what makes a stay and play golf trip here so special.
Challenging — and fun — golf
This Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design has evolved into one of the best parkland style layouts in the Midwest, and the consistency of the experience here and the phenomenal conditioning give visiting golfers a memorable experience time and time again. You’ll want to make sure you get a solid warm up at their fantastic practice facility as this course packs quite a punch right off the bat with back-to-back beastly par-4s that max out at 459 yards on the 1st and 533 yards on the 2nd.
From there, you’ll find some scoring opportunities and as you settle into your round. You’ll quickly learn that finding the fairways is key here as the rough can be quite thick and penalizing on a routing that is exceptional in every way hole after hole. Of course, we know you’ll also be excited to make your way to the famous par-3 16th hole known as The Flower Hole. With more than 50,000 flowers on this hole alone, it certainly leaves an impact as one of the most visually stunning holes you’ll ever play.

‘The Flower Hole’ features more than 50,000 flowers.
An experience that goes above and beyond
While the golf is simply incredible, we have to point out one of our favorite parts of your round at SentryWorld: the fully-inclusive experience. Usually, you can only find this kind of experience at the finest private country clubs in the world, and SentryWorld has made it to where you don’t have to pull out your wallet once throughout your round.
What that means is that throughout your day on the course, you will pass two different refreshment stations that you see four times throughout your round at the 1st tee, the 3rd tee, the 10th tee, and the 13th hole. These refreshment stations are loaded up with all kinds of treats including a myriad of snacks, brats, beers, cocktails, sodas, chips, candy, local cuisine, and so much more. The best part is that it’s all free! It’s included in the cost of your round.
These refreshment stations make the experience unique in and of themselves, and to even further enhance the experience here they have also implemented 20-minute tee time intervals to give you the feeling of having the course all to yourself. You just don’t find this at most places, and it elevates the experience here to another level.

SentryWorld features refreshment stations that are free of charge.
A stay-and-play experience that leaves an impression
Staying at The Inn at SentryWorld is an absolute must during your visit here. The resort provides a unique boutique experience as the recently added accommodations feel incredibly high-end, but with a comfortability that creates a relaxed environment for guests to enjoy.
The resort offers so much to do including dining options at PJ’s for a more casual vibe or Muse for a more high-end experience, rentable bikes to cruise along the 27-mile long bike path that runs through the local forest all the way to the downtown of Stevens Point, fire pits to recap your round at, a fully stocked fitness center, and so much more.
It’s been great to see SentryWorld finally get the recognition that it is due, and if you’re looking for a Midwest golf getaway at a major championship venue, we highly suggest that you check out SentryWorld in this region of the country.
