St. Andrews Old Course
Here at GolfStayAndPlays.com, we are always on the lookout for great deals and experiences for our readers.
To celebrate that, we’ve created a series that focuses on packages that we think excel in these two areas. Here is a list of some upcoming deals that we have recently found that we thought you should consider for any future golf getaways:
St. Andrews – St. Andrews, Scotland
One of the most sought-after destinations we hear from golfers about is The Old Course at St. Andrews. And with good reason as it is the Home of Golf. But usually there can be quite a bit of sticker shock to consumers when they reach out to try and book tee times here as the limited inventory does tend to drive the rates up, and unless you are lucky enough to secure times in the application system or the ballot system, then you’ll be looking at an expensive, yet unforgettable, experience.
Insert the Home of Golf Classic. The team at Lyons Links has created a fun 3-day event on March 5-8, 2025 that includes 3 rounds of golf including at St. Andrews that includes The Old Course, the Jubilee Course, and the Castle Course. It also includes a 3-night stay at the iconic 5-Star Old Course Hotel that you will famously drive your tee shot over on the Road Hole, the 17th hole of The Old Course. The event includes a 36-hole singles competition using the stableford format from your rounds on the Jubilee and The Old Course. Please note that at this time of the year, you will be given a mat to hit your shots off of due to course conditions. If you’d like to play from the grass, you will be allowed to move the ball to the semi rough and play from there.
Obviously, you are rolling the dice a little bit weather wise in Scotland at this time of the year, but that risk is represented in the price as everything included here at only £1,475 (pounds sterling) per golfer on a twin/double occupancy entry! There are only a few spots left, but it could be a great and affordable way for you to cross off on the of the greatest courses in the game of golf. St. Andrews
Nemacolin – Farmington, PA
If you’re looking for an experience that leaves you saying “wow!” every time you turn the corner, Nemacolin should be in your consideration for your next golf trip. This resort located in Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands continues to put serious money (the resort is owned by the Hardy family who founded the 84 Lumber Company) into the experience here, and you’ll quickly notice that as the resort features multiple high-end lodging options including the recently renovated Chateau, a casino, a world-class spa, and plenty of other unique experiences throughout the property.
From a golf perspective, there are two fantastic Pete Dye-designed courses to play including Mystic Rock which we have droned for you here, and Shepherd’s Rock. They are exceptionally conditioned, and both offer that mystique and challenge that only Pete Dye can offer, but the courses are so beautiful that you may not even notice how much they challenge your game.
Nemacolin is constantly updating their offers, but you can reach out utilizing this link to check out their Stay & Play package that offers a discounted room rate, one round of golf per adult per night reserved, and a forecaddie for your round. It’s a special property, and you’ll be glad you booked your next golf vacation here.
Gamble Sands – Brewster, WA
This is definitely one of those destinations that more and more golfers are starting to become aware of, and with good reason as Gamble Sands is certainly one of our top resorts to watch over the next year or so as they are investing a ton into the property and adding a new 18-hole golf course that is scheduled to open in 2025. In the meantime though, you’ll find plenty to enjoy at the David McLay Kidd-designed Sands Course here as this course packs a mighty punch with views for days and a fun, yet challenging layout. Don’t take our word for it as you can see from our exclusive drone footage just how special this course is:
In a unique fashion, Gamble Sands has utilized McLay Kidd’s talents for all three of their golf courses, and another fantastic layout that is currently onsite is the QuickSands course which is a 14-hole par-3 layout that features great tunes and a myriad of fun holes that you’ll want to play over and over again especially since by your second time around you’ll have learned some of the tricks of how to go low on these fun and tricky greens.
Overall, it’s such a special place and it’s only getting better. Any of our readers can use the code “GolfStayAndPlays” to receive 10% off your lodging on a package here so do yourself a favor and check it out before the end of the year.
