Omni Amelia Island Resort, Oak Marsh Golf Course
Sometimes, a property just gets it right. At the Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa — located in Amelia Island, Florida — the recent renovation to the Oak Marsh Golf Course has completely changed the footprint of golf in Northeast Florida.
Led under the watchful eye of Beau Welling, the team at Omni Amelia Island has reimagined this Pete Dye original design to a new standard and has elevated the golf experience at the resort to a new level.
For those who have been lucky enough to play this golf course before, you know that the bones of this layout were already very good. But now, the experience exudes the luxury that is synonymous with a stay at the resort.
This doesn’t come as a shock to those who have been paying attention to what the Omni Hotels & Resorts group has been doing in the golf landscape over the last few years. The company has significantly invested in their golf portfolio, including the opening of Omni PGA Frisco and the more than 100-million-dollar renovation in recent years at The Omni Homestead Resort & Spa.
These changes to the golf course fit into an overall structural change into how the Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa views the golf experience here as they have now made it to where you must be a resort guest or a member to play any of the championship courses onsite.
That is a major shift in direction here, but it further showcases how dedicated their team is to enhancing the golf experience for their guests.
The first thing you’ll notice that jumps right out is the level of conditioning of the golf course. While there have been some subtle changes to the layout, most coming in the form of elevated agronomy.
Now you can combine a round on Oak Marsh with a round at Long Point, the members-only club that does allow some limited access for resort guests to enjoy. Throw in a round at the fun short course known as Little Sandy, and you have all the makings of a premium stay-and-play experience at this secluded, relaxing resort in Northeast Florida.
