The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort
It’s got to be tough to be the sibling of a superstar. Can you imagine the pressure that comes with being Brad Pitt’s brother, for example? Well, it just so happens that Brad Pitt’s younger brother, Doug, is a stud in his own right. He’s known as a noted entrepreneur, philanthropist, and leader of his community.
That same sentiment could be said for the collection of golf courses at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
The Ocean Course is an absolute legend, and since this course first opened its doors to the golfing public it has long been held to be one of the most elite public golf courses in the country on an annual basis. But much like Doug Pitt, the sibling courses at Kiawah Island have been making a name for themselves as well, and the resort’s investment over the years into elevating the feel of the golf experience here as a whole is undeniable and golfers have certainly taken notice.
The Ocean Course
The Ocean Course is one of the best golf courses in the country. Period. There are so many good holes on this course, and the incredible variety of shots will test every facet of your game such as the approach shots into the volcano-like greens on the 2nd, 3rd and 14th holes as well as the premium on driving on holes like the 12th and 13th holes. And we haven’t even mentioned the finishing two holes yet which are among the best in the game. We could go on and on about this course, but instead we’d rather show you what makes this course so special through our exclusive drone footage below.
Osprey Point
Another favorite layout of resort guests, Osprey Point is certainly a ball-strikers layout as you’ll find tight tee shots and ample water hazards throughout your round here. Designed by the legendary Tom Fazio who is known for integrating a level of beauty into all his top designs, this layout provides a stern test as you’ll see in our exclusive drone footage below.
Cougar Point
Redesigned by Gary Player and his design team in 2017, this course was created to integrate the coastal beauty of the surrounding environment here that is highlighted by the holes that play along the marshland and Kiawah River. This beautiful setting helps to frame some of the best holes in your round here. It tips out at just more than 6,800 yards making it a more friendly playing option for many golfers, and it fits in perfectly into the blend of courses you will play during your visit to Kiawah Island. And for you film buffs out there, Cougar Point was one of the main filming locations used in the movie “The Legend of Bagger Vance.”

Turtle Point
When it comes to playing a course designed by the Golden Bear, Mr. Jack Nicklaus himself, you know that you’ll be in store for a stern test of golf. Nicklaus is known for designing a collection of holes that make golfers need to work the ball both ways. With that in mind, don’t be afraid to leave the driver in the bag sometimes here as brains over brawn will serve you well on Turtle Point. The course features a wonderful stretch of holes from Nos. 14-16 that play along the ocean, and you’ll find many guests that consider this to be their second favorite layout at the resort.

Oak Point
Located just outside the main entrance into the resort you’ll find Oak Point, a Clyde Johnston design that provides the most playable design of the Kiawah Island golf course collection. Far from a pushover by any means, this course features some of the tightest holes at Kiawah Island so being able to control your ball is a must here. As you’ll see in our exclusive drone footage below, it offers some incredible vistas and the same superb conditioning that you’ll find on all the courses here.
The collection of golf courses at Kiawah Island Golf Resort make it stand out as one of the premier destinations in the country, and we highly recommend you and your group put this onto your list of must-visit golf vacations over the years to come.
