Golf getaways in four of United States' top wine regions

Chardonnay Golf Club

Fall is the perfect time to start planning a getaway that features going low on the course during the day and enjoying wines from the top regions of the United States in the evening.

If you and yours are looking for a few great options to both enjoy some time on the course and tour beautiful wineries, we’ve put together a few fantastic destinations that deliver on both fronts.

Napa Valley & Sonoma County – California

Golf courses to consider: Silverado Resort & Spa, Chardonnay Golf Club, Rancho Solano Golf Course

Wineries to consider: Caymus, Opus, Nickel and Nickel, Duckhorn, Chateau Montelena, Stag’s Leap, and plenty more

The ultimate destination when it comes to wine in the United States, Napa and Sonoma need no introduction. Silverado’s two courses are tour-tested and are often considered among the best by vacationing golfers. Off the course, explore iconic Cabernet houses or discover smaller Sonoma producers in Healdsburg and Russian River.

Silverado Resort & Spa

Willamette Valley – Oregon

Golf courses to consider: The Reserve Vineyard & Golf Club, Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club,

Wineries to consider: Domaine Willamette, The Eyrie Vineyards, Brigadoon Wine Co., Beckham Estate Vineyard,

This destination which is known for great Pinot Noirs is located just 30 minutes south of Portland where lush fairways meet rich reds. Willamette’s rolling countryside is perfect for fall golf, and we’ve provided some great nearby golfing options.   You could also consider including a stop here on your way down to the iconic Bandon Dunes, or heading east to Bend, Oregon to enjoy any of the great golf resorts there such as Sunriver Resort or Pronghorn.

Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club

Paso Robles – California

Golf courses to consider: Hunter Ranch Golf Course, Paso Robles Golf Club

Wineries to consider: JUSTIN Vineyards and Winery, Tablas Creek Vineyard, Daou Family Estates

Paso Robles has exploded in popularity thanks to its Rhône-style blends and bold Zinfandels. Known as a less traveled destination as the ever-popular Napa and Sonoma counties, this more laid-back wine haven is a great place to consider if you’re looking for great wines, easy vibes, and fun and friendly golf courses.

Hunter Ranch Golf Course

Charlottesville – Virginia

Golf courses to consider: Birdwood Golf Course at Boar’s Head Resort, Keswick Hall

Wine: Barboursville, King Family, Jefferson Vineyards

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Charlottesville offers both a golf and wine renaissance. Birdwood, recently redesigned by Davis Love III, is one of the best courses in the Mid-Atlantic. Afterward, enjoy bold Viogniers and colonial charm on the Monticello Wine Trail.  Keswick Hall is another one of our favorite hidden gems of the Mid Atlantic that offers a beautiful boutique hotel experience alongside a phenomenal Pete Dye design.
