A Gary Player masterpiece, Dolphin Head opened in 1974 and is highlighted by plenty of natural features, as well as little landfill in order to keep the course looking natural. Dolphin Head was the first course constructed within Hilton Head Plantation, and it puts an emphasis on hitting fairways and greens, as the course plays short on the front nine, but opens up on the back side. The course was renovated in 2010 under the guidance of Clyde Johnston, with the tees and fairways utilizing Celebration Bermuda, while the greens are Mini-Verde Bermuda.
