Excellent family friendly golf destinations for 2024: Part 2

Sea Island Resort

As the second installment in our Family Friendly Golf Destinations to enjoy in 2024, we wanted to showcase a few more properties that provide your family with a variety of options alongside top-notch golf – allowing for a vacation of a lifetime for everyone.

Pinehurst Resort

There’s no doubt that almost every golfer is aware of how great the golf is at Pinehurst Resort, and we’re here to tell you that it can also be the perfect place for the whole family to enjoy.  The resort provides guests with a private, 200-acre freshwater lake that is only a short shuttle ride away from The Village of Pinehurst. It’s there that you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, paddleboards, and canoes or do a bit of sunbathing on the white, sandy beach.  Another feature that many guests are surprised to see when they arrive at the main clubhouse are lawn sports such as croquet and lawn bowling. These are also near The Cradle, the fun and family friendly par-3 course that features music where kids play for free with a paying adult.  You can also enjoy the 18-hole putting course Thistle Dhu that is free for all resort guests to enjoy.

Barefoot Resort & Golf

A visit to the “Golf Capital of the World” – aka Myrtle Beach – just got a little bit sweeter for your family, as one of the best facilities in the region offers kids 16 and under the ability to play golf for free in June, July, and August this summer.  This is available at all four courses at Barefoot Resort & Golf.  As a former host facility of “The Big Break” on Golf Channel, Barefoot Resort & Golf offer first-class golf, as well as a plethora of activities nearby. From the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, to the exquisite shopping at Barefoot Landing, to the Myrtle Beach Skywheel, to great music venues at the House of Blues and Alabama Theatre, the area has plenty of options for everyone.

French Lick Resort

The historic French Lick Resort is one of the best golf resorts in the Midwest, let alone the entire United States. With two incredible courses, the golf is second-to-none. The Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort and the Donald Ross Course offer unique experiences, which is somewhat abnormal for resort courses. If you’re looking for a more family friendly experience for less experienced golfers, then check out the Valley Links Course which is a 9-hole par-36 golf course that is free for kids 12 and younger. For those 21 and older, check out the French Lick Casino to enjoy the 24/7 gaming floor, and you may also want to check out their events calendar that can include major concerts, murder mystery weekends, s’mores by the fire, and daily live music in the atrium of the West Baden Springs Hotel.

Keystone Resort

Keystone Resort in Colorado is known for their legendary winter activities, but we strongly recommend getting out to this incredible destination in the summertime! The golf here is phenomenal especially given the incredible value you get for the price that you pay.  As is evident in our drone footage below, the mountainous backdrops and epic elevation changes of The River Course at Keystone combined with the rustic charm of the Keystone Ranch Golf Course provides you with the perfect hub for your Colorado getaway with the family.

Keystone Resort offers a myriad of lodging options for you including many multi-bedroom options that families tend to love, and there is so much to see and do during your visit here including gondola rides that take you to the top of Dercum Mountain where you can grab a bite, take in the views, enjoy the hiking trails, and even enjoy some summer snow tubing!  Another family-friendly activity we recommend is to visit the Keystone Stables where you can enjoy the beautiful Soda Creek Valley via horse drawn wagon or on horseback.  These are just a few of the many amenities to enjoy at Keystone Resort as we’re sure your family would love the experience here.

Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

If your family loves pristine beaches and the gorgeous waters of the Emerald Coast, then Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is a must visit. The resort is massive, and there are a multitude of accommodations choices, including multi-bedroom oceanside condos, the luxurious Hotel Effie for those seeking a more traditional hotel experience, and the beautiful Osprey Pointe condos that are the newest accommodations available for guests of the resort.

The golf here is incredible, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better value when it comes to golf at a first-class facility.  The variety is fantastic, and with 73 holes of golf (yes, that’s not a typo) to enjoy you’ll have plenty to keep you busy here on the course.

In addition to the beaches and the activities available here, families tend to love riding bikes through the massive property, enjoying the Baytowne Adventure Zone at Baytowne Wharf, playing at the Blast Arcade & Laser Maze, or enjoying a little putt-putt golf at the Dunes Putting Course. The resort also features a robust events schedule, so be sure to look at the calendar when booking your family trip here, as you may be able to time up your trip to coincide with the Annual Gumbo Festival or the Annual Wine Festival.

Reynolds Lake Oconee

If you’re looking for a fun, relaxing getaway that is conveniently located only about an hour outside of Atlanta, then look no further than Reynolds Lake Oconee.  As the name implies, the lake is a way of life here at Lake Oconee as the 374 miles of shoreline offer you and your family ample opportunities to get on the water on a boat, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard. If you’re looking for a great photo opportunity, be sure to visit the Lake Oconee Jumping Rock and take a running plunge into the lake!

In addition to the lakeside life, resort guests will also have access to the Linger Longer Park pool and the Great Waters pool. There is plenty to enjoy outdoors here, as the resort features 21 miles of hiking and biking trails, tennis, the 100-acre Sand Creek Sporting Grounds, and 99 holes of resort golf that are simply phenomenal. The resort features a multitude of 2-to-4-bedroom cottages and condominiums for you to choose from, as well as The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee for those looking for a luxury hotel setting.
