The next Bandon? Wild Spring Dunes (Doak, Coore and Crenshaw!) golf complex headed for East Texas

Wild Spring Dunes

Bandon Dunes? Epic.

Sand Valley? Mesmerizing.

Wild Spring Dunes? We can only imagine.

It’s what we’ve grown to expect from Dream Golf facilities, and with its announcement of the construction of Wild Spring Dunes just north of Nacogdoches in East Texas, it looks like the Travel Caddie has another must-play golf resort to add to the ol’ itinerary in the near future.

Let the countdown begin

With opening expected at some point in 2026 and construction on the first of two courses set to begin in Fall 2024, Wild Spring Dunes will be set on “2,400 sandy, secluded acres with 120 feet of elevation change and varied topography and ecosystems including towering pines and hardwood forest; open, grassy meadows; rolling hills; and steep ravines carved by spring-fed creeks,” Dream Golf said in a release.

The site is being developed by the world-class duo of Michael and Chris Keiser, while designer Tom Doak is slated to build the first of the two 18-hole courses. The second? To be completed by none other than Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.

“This land just has a different feel from anything I’ve worked on in the past,” Doak said in the press release.

“That’s the attraction for me, and I think the course will be unique and interesting for golfers.”

Both course routings have been completed, while Dream Golf says it intends to add a short course and practice center.

The facility will also feature homesites and dining facilities.

Wild Spring Dunes is 20 miles north of Nacogdoches, while a two-hour drive from Dallas and Houston. The closest airport is Shreveport Regional Airport that is just 73 miles away, and the site is a day’s drive from Oklahoma City, New Orleans, St. Louis and Memphis, amongst other metropolitan areas.

“It’s just a wonderful coincidence that this site is accessible to so many people,” Michael Keiser said in the press release. “The reason we’re doing it is because of the quality of the site. If it were 10 hours, 15 hours from Dallas or Houston, we’d still be doing it because the site is just that good.”
