Golf amid the Northern Lights: Cabot makes an investment in Norway’s Lofoten Links

The team at Cabot has been on fire lately.

The Cabot brand burst onto the golf scene when Cabot Links first opened in 2012 when the genius of Ben Cowan-Dewar teamed up with the visionary Mike Keiser, famed owner of Dream Golf that includes Bandon Dunes and Sand Valley, to launch an ambitious project on the coast of Nova Scotia.

Since opening, the resort has expanded to add the stunning Coore-Crenshaw design of Cabot Cliffs, the fun short course known as The Nest, and a gorgeous boutique resort that also offers real estate opportunities. This one project alone would be enough to keep most companies busy, but this was just the beginning for the Cabot team.

In recent years, Cabot has expanded their portfolio including the addition of:

  • Cabot Saint Lucia – A gorgeous oceanside Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw designed private golf course and real estate community.
  • Cabot Revelstoke – An unbelievable piece of property in the mountains of British Columbia that is currently in development.
  • Cabot Highlands – The renamed resort that was formerly known as Castle Stuart in Scotland that includes the addition of a new 18-hole course called Old Petty that is designed by Tom Doak and is slated to open for preview play in 2025.
  • Cabot Citrus Farms – The completely renovated property that was formerly World Woods in Brooksville, Florida that includes the 18-hole Karoo course, The Squeeze short course, The Wedge par-3 course, and the Roost 18-hole course that will be opening for preview play in October.
  • Cabot Bordeaux – Formerly known as Golf Du Médoc Resort in France, this 36-hole golf resort showcases two heathland golf experiences designed by Rod Whitman and Bill Coore.

A new project

As it is becoming quite evident, the team at Cabot always has their eyes open for projects that fit the company’s vision for creating incredible golf experiences and another project has just come on board.

Cabot has just made a strategic investment into Lofoten Links that is located along the seas of Norway.  The stunning pictures of this property barely do it justice as its unique location allows golfers to enjoy the course 24 hours a day typically from mid-May to late July, or to enjoy the majestic beauty of the northern lights during a Fall visit.

It’s the definition of unique, and it’s a great addition to the brand for Cabot.

As Cabot CEO and Co-Founder Ben Cowan-Dewar stated, “We are thrilled to join forces with Lofoten Links, a spectacular property that effortlessly aligns with our vision of delivering world-class golf and experiences across the globe’s most remarkable destinations. General Manager Frode Hov is a true visionary, and we couldn’t be more excited about the future of this extraordinary site.”

In addition to an exceptional golf course, the resort features charming Nordic-style cottages that showcase multiple bedrooms and can be rented in their entirety or can be split into multiple rooms depending on your group size. When you’re off the course, guests can enjoy the beauty of the previously mentioned Northern Lights, a beach sauna, hikes on the island, or explore the area on horseback.

It’s easy to see why this was such an intriguing investment for the team at Cabot.

It’s a wonderful addition to one of the best portfolios in the game of golf, and we’ll be excited to see how they make their mark on this iconic resort.
