It’s not just about your time on Earth, it’s about what you do with it.
For Hadley, it only took six days to change the world — even if her time with us was way too short.
For Katie and Ryan Bush, the love for their little bundle of joy is immeasurable.
The excitement of having a child quickly turned to fear and uncertainty, as on June 12, 2015 when they heard three letters during a routine ultrasound that quickly changed their lives: CDH.
CDH stands for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia which is a birth defect that happens when the diaphragm does not completely form in utero, allowing organs typically housed in the abdomen to migrate up into the chest cavity, inhibiting lung growth. The couple quickly found through research that this was a condition that not all CDH cases were created equal, and fear was quickly replaced with hope as they knew little Hadley was going to be a fighter.
This beautiful little fighter came into this world on July 20 — 15 weeks premature — and the combination of CDH with being born early was too much for this special brave soul to bare. Her fight came to an end on July 26 as this little angel earned her wings and she passed in the loving arms of her mother and father.
As a tribute to their sweet soul’s memory, Ryan and Katie undertook the nearly impossible task of taking this tragedy head on and turning the worst moment in their lives into an amazing tribute by creating the Fore Hadley Foundation. This non-profit organization focuses on creating family assistance grants to aid families who are in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) fighting with their little ones with CDH, a scholarship fund for CDH survivors, and donating money to research so hopefully we can find the cause for this one day.
