Ross Bridge course at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail
Alabama’s Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is one of the most impressive feats of combining outside the box thinking with a love for the game of golf that we have ever seen. The result of these efforts is the largest golf course construction project that has ever been attempted resulting in 450 holes of golf across 11 properties in the great state of Alabama.
One of the most popular courses in this impressive chain of golf courses is Ross Bridge near Birmingham, Alabama, and the course has received a recent renovation that includes the following highlights:
- New TifEagle Bermuda was planted to replace the bent grass greens with a more climate appropriate Ultradwarf Bermuda grass that will result in a firmer and smoother playing surface.Â
- All of the bunkers were revamped across the property, rebuilding them with fresh drainage systems and replenished sand, while also undertaking the removal and reshaping of several bunkers. They elevated the floors of numerous greenside bunkers to ensure golfers would not find themselves too far below the putting surface.
- The team strategically relocated some of the cart paths onsite to improve playability and drainage across the course as well as fixing any damaged paths.
- Architectural changes were implemented on holes 1, 2, 10, 14, and 18 to enhance the drama of your round and leave a lasting impact.
- New EZ-GO golf cars with GPS and Bluetooth technology were added to the property to further enhance your experience and improve playability for you during your round.
While the course will be in excellent condition and ready for play on the reopening date of October 13, 2023, some finishing touches may still be in progress, such as laying pine straw and final beautification work.
Ross Bridge is conveniently located alongside the 259-room Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa and can serve as the perfect hub for you and your group if you’re looking to enjoy top-notch golf at an incredible value. From a golf perspective, the Trail’s Oxmoor Valley, which features 45 holes of golf, is only 2 miles away and can provide you with a lot of variety to enjoy during your stay.
