5 golf destinations for your Louisiana golf getaway

All it takes is one visit to Louisiana to see why the people who live here take so much pride in their state.

With a huge Creole and Cajun population, Louisiana exudes culture, and it can be felt in the major cities through the arts and the culinary delights that abound in Louisiana.  There are just under 100 golf courses in the state, and we’ve taken the opportunity to highlight 5 favorites of golf travelers for you to enjoy.

The first two, TPC Louisiana and English Turn, can be found for visitors looking to visit the greater New Orleans area and the last three are for those considering a visit to Lake Charles.  Whichever destination you choose, you’ll have plenty of great options for a fun and exciting golf vacation.

TPC Louisiana

Fashioned out of the swampland near New Orleans by the legendary Pete Dye with the help of Kelly Gibson and the sweet swinging Steve Elkington in 2004, TPC Louisiana is a staple on the PGA Tour’s rotation as the home of the Zurich Classic. The course features a wonderful variety of holes as you’ll see in the video footage above, and it’s a must play for any New Orleans golf getaway. With public rates as low as $89, this is one of the best values you can find to play a PGA Tour golf course in the U.S.

English Turn Golf & Country Club

As the previous home of the now named Zurich Classic on the PGA Tour from 1989-2004 (and once again in 2006 due to Hurricane Katrina), English Turn Golf & Country Club is a Jack Nicklaus-design that features a plethora of bunkers, numerous grass depressions and mounds, and water that comes into play on 17 of the 18 holes.  The Golden Bear wanted to make this a ball striker’s challenge. Mission accomplished. Another course that offers you a ton of value for the price they charge, it’s the perfect 1-2 combination with TPC Louisiana for your New Orleans golf stay-and-play vacation.
