Nicklaus stepped in to redesign the course in order to prepare it for hosting the 1979 Ryder Cup. The course also hosted the Solheim Cup, making it the only resort in the world to host both of these historic events. This West Virginia course also hosted a Champions Tour event for three years in the 1980s, so needless to say you don’t get to host events from all three major tours unless the golf is phenomenal.
